Apple Accidentally Reveals iPhone Breakthrough Feature In New Patent
From a Forbes article.
I wonder how "accidental" this reveal is. US patent applications are published 18 months after filing (with limited exception). Apple knows this. Apple also knows that people regularly review thir published patent applications for hints on what the company is working on. Apple also knows that by allowing this application to publish, it is creating prior art for everyone else.
However, this may not be the right strategy for everyone. For example, if you are a start-up working in stealth, you may want to see if you fit the exception to request non-publication of your patent application.
All this patent stuff aside, two-way wireless charging is really cool. Speaking strictly as a tech geek.
